EDIUS Workstations are superb standalone craft editors. They are also the perfect complement to the our Digital News Production solution, which touches the entire news production process, from acquisition, ingest, and media browsing, to quick-turn editing, craft editing, and automated playout. They also support the Grass Valley Infinity™ series of products for ENG and EFP tasks.

Each Grass Valley EDIUS Workstation is designed to support realtime editing of all popular high-definition (HD) and standard-definition (SD) formats including Canopus HQ, Canopus Lossless, DV, DVCAM, JPEG 2000*, HDV, DVCPRO, MPEG-2, P2, VariCam, XDCAM**, and uncompressed video.

EDIUS HD – Analog or Digital, SD or HD
The EDIUS HD Turnkey Workstation is our flagship editor for professional video production environments and perfect for any analog or SD or HD digital production workflow. Its external multi-I/O processor design includes common SDI and component video inputs, AES/EBU digital audio and balanced audio support, RS-422 device control, and SD and HD component outputs. In addition, the external processor unit can perform realtime simulcast output of HD and SD video. Offering a range of panning, cropping, letterboxing and pillarboxing options, the external unit makes it possible to output to HD and SD devices simultaneously, directly from the EDIUS Broadcast timeline.

EDIUS Multi-I/O Processing Unit for HD/SD
The EDIUS HD Workstation includes the HDBX1000 Multi-I/O Processor Unit. HDBX1000 is a professional, high-quality, 3U rackmount device featuring every conceivable connection that a broadcast studio might require. In addition to the vast array of I/O connections, HDBX1000 units for EDIUS HD can perform realtime downconversion of HD footage to SD. This makes it possible to output to HD and SD devices simultaneously, directly from the EDIUS timeline.

Additionally, the EDIUS HD Workstation comes with a 24-inch LCD monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, internal storage, an integrated REV PRO™ removable-media drive, and a bundle of REV PRO media—everything you need to get up and running.

Format-Independent Craft Editing
The heart of the EDIUS HD system, like those of each EDIUS Turnkey Workstation, is a combination of high-performance hardware and nonlinear editing software. The EDIUS hardware and software work together to provide a true, realtime WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editing experience—one that’s perfect for advanced craft editing involving multiple formats, layers, camera shots, and complex nested sequences.

With an EDIUS HD system, you can mix SD and HD assets in the same timeline, making it perfect for documentaries, commercials, interstitials, and other complex or long-form craft-editing projects, regardless of the source or output format.

Exchange Assets Freely
The projects and assets you create on one EDIUS Workstation can be freely moved and exchanged with another for a truly mobile editing experience. And by using REV PRO drives and removable media, you can move projects from one location to another without losing changes or missing asset files.

You can also incorporate an EDIUS HD Workstation into a network configuration for asset exchange and/or integration with a Grass Valley K2™ media server/media client system, Profile® XP Media Platform server, Profile 6G server, M-Series™ intelligent digital disc recorder (iDDR), or Turbo™ intelligent video recorder (iVDR).
